Friday, January 8, 2010
The program involves sharing decades of wisdom from successful industry leaders with bright stars of the future. Importantly, it captures this learning and "street-smarts" within the industry and attempts to accelerate the development of tomorrow's industry leaders. Sami is excited to be accepted into the program and states, “the skills I will learn from this program will be invaluable for my future within the industry. These opportunities don't come around too often.”
Sami, who works as a Vineyard Manager for Dowie Doole, also owns and runs three other businesses in McLaren Vale. He established Gilligan Contracting, a vineyard contracting and wine transport business in 1998 and also owns a storage business called Pallet and Barrel. His third business, owned in partnership with his father and uncle, is a small wine label called Gilligan which exports most of its products to countries such as Germany, Denmark and the US.
Sami states that “the industry is going through a little bit of a rough patch at the moment, but there's plenty of opportunities for young people if they're prepared to work hard.”
