50 SUMMER WINES
Jonathan Ray, Telegraph Weekend UK

"it's a winning formula"
David Sly, SA Life Magazine
Year: 2008
Editorial: "The brightly coloured label and jokey name suggests this wine is meant to be fun, though it's far beyond simple giggle juice. The team at Dowie Doole at McLaren Vale has produced a luscious red with ripe berry fruitiness but enough of a savoury edge with fine tannin grip to make it a handsome companion for meals such as meaty pasta dishes. For such a friendly, no fuss wine made with a mélange of grapes, this seems like a rather carefully designed, specific recipe: 71 percent cabernet sauvignon, 23 percent merlot, 3 percent shiraz and 3 percent petit verdot. It's a winning formula." (2004 Vintage)

90 POINTS
Phillip White, Adelaide Advertiser
Year: 2006
Editorial: Designed for those who can’t pronounce Dowie Doole by the clever dudes at the latter, this exquisite composition of cabernet, merlot, shiraz and petit verdot is crisp, lithe, fine, cleansing wine, with a savoury, leafy finish. How they’ve done it at this price beats me. It’s very easy quaffing with, say, dry cheese, but it really cries out for goose, or the crackling of that fattened hog. Brill! (2004 Vintage)
